I like to take time out each December to reflect on the year that just passed.
We are all good at keeping track of our to-do lists, but how good are we at keeping track of our achievements?
As a prover who’s quick to focus on the next challenge once a goal has been achieved, I have had to train myself to take a moment to appreciate what I have accomplished.
When I shared my 2024 goals in January, they all stemmed from my values:
- Contribution
- Well-being
- Growth
- Connection
- Fun/Play
I am proud to share that this year we reached our placement goal and I delivered 54 training programs for 39 different law firms, including 14 I’ve never worked with before!
I also had a lot of growth opportunities by working one-on-one with a coach at Brand Builders Group and spending 3 hours a week studying towards a certification in Theta Healing, a meditation technique that uncovers negative unconscious beliefs and replaces them with positive ones.
This year, I experienced deep connection, personally and professionally, by spending time with our 3 grown kids at our beach house, in Poland during the bike ride from Auschwitz to the Krakow JCC that so many of you donated to, and playing pickleball together. I love my clients, many of whom have become close friends, and enjoyed our time together at LMA events, the PDC conference and visiting them when I traveled for work to Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, DC, Delaware, Houston, NY/NJ, Philly, San Fran and Toronto.
As for my well-being goals, I committed to caring for my body by doing yoga twice a week and closing my Apple watch movement circle 5 days a week. Most weeks I was successful, especially when I scheduled time with a trainer to do weight training or signed up for Pilates classes. Unfortunately, left to my own choices, I often skipped exercising and defaulted to work instead. The lesson here is that for some important goals we need external support!
What do I wish I made more time for? Rest! I am fortunate that most nights I sleep well, but I want to get better at allocating time to rest. This looks like being content reading for pleasure, lounging on the coach, and spending time on non-purposeful actions like daydreaming.
As someone who has mastered goal setting and time management, this just might be my biggest challenge and will be at the top of my list for 2025!
Happy holidays and thank you so much for all of your support! I am deeply grateful that you spend your valuable time reading our Wisnik Weekly.
