What do you have control over as we enter 2022? Yes, there’s a lot we can’t control, and the pandemic is still causing massive uncertainty in all aspects of our lives, BUT there are things we do have control over. What if you focused on these things?
There are two areas of your life I want you to consider focusing on so you can feel more in control and free up energy to excel at what you value most.
First, where do you want to grow? What do you want to learn or master? I remember many years ago when I was newly-promoted to Director of Recruiting, I was asked to draw up a departmental budget. Although I had an MBA, I didn’t know the mechanics of creating an annual budget. I felt inadequate and procrastinated on this task. Finally, I asked our CFO if he could help me. In under one hour he gave me a template and showed me what data I should use from past years to create a budget. Not only did I learn a new skill, but the fear of not knowing something I “should” know was released, and I felt much more confident. Is there something that has been sapping your energy and confidence that you want to learn for 2022? What resources exist to help you master this new skill or area?
Second, what do you know you should be doing that you’re not? You know what I’m talking about! It’s that thing that keeps popping into your mind that you need to take care of because it will make you feel more in control. Did you promise yourself you would have that difficult conversation, declutter your home or schedule your annual physical?
What does it cost you when you don’t keep the promises you made to yourself? Imagine if this first week of 2022 you delivered on this commitment. Wouldn’t that be a great start to the new year?
Wishing you all an incredible 2022! If there is any way we can help you reach your goals this year, please reach out!
